Andre Drummond will pay $10 million over two years to join the 76ers.
Multiple
reports have confirmed that Andre Drummond will sign a two-year, $10 million
contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to sources who spoke with ESPN.
Drummond,
who played with the 76ers for the first half of the 2021–22 season before being
traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for James Harden during that February's
trade deadline, is back with Philadelphia.
After
playing for Nikola Vucevic in Chicago for the previous two seasons, Drummond
provides Philadelphia with a top-tier backup option for former MVP Joel Embiid,
who was sidelined for a significant portion of the previous campaign due to a
knee ailment.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the
76ers are scheduled to meet with LA Clippers forward Paul George, the best
available free agency, in an attempt to bolster their star player's starting
lineup. Drummond, who turns 31 in August, started off as a great center for the
Detroit Pistons before settling into a reliable backup role. He was still a
very effective rebounder last season, averaging nine in little over seventeen
minutes.
He
averaged almost eighteen rebounds per game in his ten starts. Drummond recently
inked a $6.6 million, two-year contract with the Bulls in 2022.
